HOLD ONTO YOUR DREAM CAMPAIGN

On Saturday, October 4th, join SC Appleseed and the Young Immigrants in Action for SC (YIAS) for the “Hold Onto Your Dream” Campaign, a kite making competition featuring kites built by youth from around the state of South Carolina! Kites that tell the stories of their dreams!

TFlickr Mohamed lujaz Zuhair Kitehrough a kite building competition for local youth, the Campaign seeks to raise awareness for issues facing high school graduates in South Carolina when it comes to accessing an affordable college education. This is especially true for students who are immigrants or children of immigrants. Come out for this family friendly event and learn more about how young people across South Carolina are holding onto their dreams.

CALLING KITE MAKERS — REGISTER TODAY:

We have a limited number of slots for local South Carolina youth to participate in the Hold Onto Your Dream Campaign and we would love to have you participate! The deadline to register is Tuesday, September 30, 2014.

Steps to participate: 

Limited competition spots:

  • Elementary (grades 3, 4, 5): First 8 to register
  • Middle School: First 8 to register
  • High School & GED: First 10 to register
  • College and Working adults (up to 27 yrs.): First 14 to register

10:00 AM – 10:30 AM | Artistic and design elements
10:45 AM – 11:15 AM | Flight judging
11:30 PM – 12:00 PM | Score Tabulation
12:00 PM – 12:30 PM | Judges Meeting

High School, GED, College + working adults (up to 27 yrs.)
11:00 AM – 11:30 AM | Artistic and design elements
11:45 AM – 12:15 PM | Flight judging:
12:30 PM – 1:00 PM | Score Tabulation
1:00 PM – 1:30 PM | Judges Meeting

1:45 PM – 2:30 PM | Awards ceremony for all categories
